John Statz - August 24, 2013
There is something about the Midwest that results in the birth of great singer-songwriters. No doubt the landscape, seasons, and working-class lifestyle of this region all play a role. But it’s also true that many 20-somethings from the Midwest get out of dodge when the opportunity arises to see some country and gaze on the world with Midwestern sensibilities. And in the case of those destined to be singer-songwriters, such as Wisconsin native and sometimes-world traveler, John Statz, this rich stew of experiences and cultural identity finds its way into the music.
John will be visiting the Three Springs Barn to help us close out the summer season. To get a sense of John’s music, check out this video for the song ‘Distance’, from his latest album, Old Fashioned. John’s made his home in Colorado now, so take advantage of this great opportunity to see him as he spends a bit of time back in Wisconsin.

As always, please RSVP to Milesdog@tds.net to reserve your seats in advance of the show; seating is limited! We’re suggesting a donation of $10 for this show. Doors open at 7:30; music at 8. BYOB for the communal beverage tubs. You are welcome to bring a light snack to share too. Come early and enjoy the day’s end on the prairie (and if we’re really lucky, green darner dragonflies will be moving south and out foraging over the prairie, which is quite a spectacle to see).
