Chad Elliott - March 6, 2015
Finding the music of Chad Elliott is like turning up a hidden treasure in your own back-forty. You wonder, how is it possible that I’ve missed this all these years? If you’ve not yet heard of Chad Elliott--a musician from Coon Rapids, Iowa--please mark your calendars for this Friday night show in early March. About Chad, the folks at No Depression have said, “...equal parts Townes Van Zandt and Woody Guthrie...a remarkably competent finger style guitarist and arguably one of new folk’s most gifted lyricists.” Chad is an award-winning musician currently working on his 20th original album, with producer Ken Coomer of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo. To get a sense of Chad’s music first hand, check out his entry to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert contest--Homefire Blues, and also check out this great video of his song Same, Old Way. We think the barn will be the perfect venue for Chad’s music, we hope you’ll join us and find out for yourself. To learn more about Chad--and there’s lots more to learn about this musician, painter, sculptor and author of a children’s book, we encourage you to visit his website.
To reserve your seats for this show, please RSVP to Milesdog@tds.net. We’re asking $15 a head; Chad will use it responsibly, we’re sure. As always, BYOB for the communal beverage tub and a snack to share if you’d like. Doors for this show will open at 7 PM with music to start at 7:30 PM. There’s no telling what the weather will be this time of year, but we’re pretty sure we’ll still have the wood-stove stoked for the evening.
