Sofia Talvik - September 24, 2016
Three Springs Barn has been fortunate to host musicians from both coasts and points in between, but this show will mark our first opportunity to host a musician from Europe. Sofia Talvik calls Sweden home, but has made a name for herself as a singer within the ‘Americana’ tradition, particularly with the release of her latest album, Big Sky Country. Much of the music on that album was inspired from a 16 month, 37 state road-trip and tour across the U.S. This video of the title track from Big Sky Country provides a glimpse into Sofia’s epic road-trip, and of course an opportunity to hear her wonderful Nordic-tinged Americana sound. Big Sky Country has garnered much praise, as this review attests. To date, Sofia has released 6 albums, so there’s ample opportunity to enjoy her music. Give Me A Home is another song from her latest album. And although it won’t be Christmas season, perhaps Sofia will perform one of her annually released Christmas songs, such as this one from 2015--Cold, Cold, Feet--a melancholy tribute to a working woman.
