Ari and Mia - May 3, 2019

Sisters Ari and Mia return to the barn this spring with their beautiful singing, bowing, strumming, and picking, along with a new album. Released on March 1, Sew The City is an album that the sisters say is an homage to the women ancestors in their lives. The songs share memories and stories of strong women and heroes, such as the sisters’ grandmothers. You’ll hear all of that in title track, Sew The City. With cello and banjo and more, Ari and Mia have their own blend of New England string-folk. Their new song, Sweet Morning, has an ancient and timeless quality to it. We loved them last time, so we know we’re in for a great evening of live music. And in keeping with the strong-woman theme of the album, Ari and Mia will be joined on this tour by their mother, who will be on grandma duty taking care of Ari’s new baby boy. Yes, these women are touring with a baby in tow!

We know that many of you that saw the sisters last time already have your seats reserved for this show. For the rest of you, please RSVP to reserve your seats. Doors will open at 7:00, with music to begin at 7:30. We’re asking $15 for this show; please bring cash to pay at the door. And as always, BYOB for the communal washtubs and a snack to share if you’d like. We’re hoping for a beautiful spring evening (and a recently burned prairie), but Midwestern weather being what it is, come prepared for anything. If we’re really, truly lucky, maybe we’ll be treated to a displaying woodcock right before showtime.
